CANADA DRIVER STUDY

Free Canadian driving practice tests

Choose Ontario G1 car, Class A/AZ commercial knowledge or a general commercial pre-trip test. Each attempt uses a fixed 20-minute timer and instant feedback.

Licensing is provincial: each Canadian province and territory controls its own licence classes, handbooks and tests. These original questions are study aids, not official exam questions.

Other provinces and territories

Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, Quebec, Saskatchewan and the three territories use their own manuals and licence systems. Visit our Canada licence directory before studying so you follow the correct local rules.

Why one Canadian test cannot cover every province

Canadian road signs share many conventions, but licensing programs, class names, graduated stages, fees and test procedures are administered locally. A question that is useful in Ontario may not describe the exact wording or process used in Alberta, British Columbia or another jurisdiction. Start with the handbook issued where you will apply, then use general practice to check your understanding.

A reliable way to study

  1. Select your province or territory in the official-authority directory.
  2. Download the current passenger-vehicle or commercial-driver handbook.
  3. Study one topic at a time: signs, right-of-way, speed, sharing the road and emergencies.
  4. Complete a randomized practice set without notes.
  5. Review mistakes in the official handbook before trying again.

Commercial applicants

Commercial licence classes and air-brake requirements are not identical across Canada. Applicants should verify medical, knowledge, training, road-test and vehicle requirements with their provincial or territorial authority. Ontario learners can continue with the Class A/AZ guide and pre-trip practice; learners elsewhere should use those pages only for general review.

Accuracy note: Rig Toolbox writes its own practice questions and does not reproduce government exam questions. If this website and an official handbook disagree, follow the official source.
