ONTARIO DRIVER STUDY GUIDE

Ontario G licence test guide

A clear starting point for preparing for the full G road test, with official Ontario information and a practical test-day checklist.

Important: The Ontario G test is a road test, not another online written exam. Rig Toolbox does not provide an “official G test” or predict a test route. Use this page to organize your preparation and confirm requirements with Ontario and DriveTest.

How the Ontario G licensing process works

Ontario uses graduated licensing. New drivers progress through G1 and G2 before earning a full G licence. Ontario says the process includes two learning levels and two road tests. The full G test is the Level Two road test.

Before booking or attending

Confirm eligibility

Check your current licence status, required waiting period and any conditions using the official Ontario and DriveTest information.

Use a suitable vehicle

Make sure the vehicle, plates, insurance and basic safety equipment meet the current test requirements. A vehicle that cannot be safely tested may lead to a cancelled test.

Review the official handbook

Refresh the rules of the road, signs, observation habits and highway-related material in the Official MTO Driver’s Handbook.

Plan the appointment

Confirm the location, arrival instructions and documents directly with DriveTest. Do not rely on unofficial route predictions.
