Driver documents
- Valid passport or approved travel document
- Commercial driver’s licence and any required endorsements
- Work authorization or immigration documents, when applicable
- FAST card, if the trip and driver use the FAST program
Truck and carrier
- Vehicle registration and proof of insurance
- Carrier identifiers and permits required for the trip
- Cabotage and equipment instructions confirmed with dispatch
Shipment
- Bill of lading and commercial invoice
- Customs entry or release information from the broker
- Seal number checked against the paperwork
- Commodity description, quantity, origin and destination reviewed
- Dangerous goods or special commodity documents, if applicable
